From ‘Completely Destroyed’ to Modern Oasis: VRchitects’ Palo Alto Project Featured in
Home + Garden Design Magazine
We’re proud to share that one of our most personal and transformative projects—a full rebuild in Midtown Palo Alto—has been featured in the Summer 2023 edition of Home + Garden Design Magazine in the article titled “From ‘Completely Destroyed’ to Modern Oasis.”
This feature captures the story behind a complete architectural reinvention. When Maor Greenberg and his wife purchased the property in 2020, the home was in severe disrepair—from termite damage and dated construction to poor flow and design. Rather than patchwork repairs, the vision was to start from scratch and create something remarkable: a custom-built home tailored to modern family life, indoor-outdoor living, and timeless design.
📍 Project Overview:
Location: Midtown Palo Alto
Size: 3,204 sq. ft., 5 bed / 5 bath
Design Focus: Indoor-outdoor integration, functional family living, advanced material use
Completion: 2023
Highlights from the Palo Alto Project:
Indoor-Outdoor Flow: Floor-to-ceiling bifold doors connect the front and back yards through a see-through fireplace.
Smart Living: A custom-designed kitchen with hidden storage, a 45-inch prep sink, and an appliance garage — paired with a vacuum-powered Laundry Jet system for upstairs convenience.
Natural Light & Mood: Adjustable lighting throughout the home lets each space shift its tone throughout the day.
Family-Centric Design: Clear lines of sight across the first floor, an integrated playroom/guest room, and custom features tailored to a young family’s needs.
Outdoor Experience: A louvered trellis, 35-foot waterfall wall, sauna, outdoor kitchen, and a trampoline—all visible from inside the home.

This home is a true representation of what happens when architectural vision, thoughtful design, and precise execution come together. It reflects our core philosophy: design with intention, build with integrity.
