Modern Minimalism in the Hills: A Bold Belmont Transformation
(
8
)

/ About the project
Tucked into the hillside of Belmont, California, this project is a bold study in modern minimalism—designed with purpose, precision, and a strong architectural point of view. What began as a traditional split-level was reimagined into a gated modern retreat with clean lines, thoughtful materials, and seamless indoor-outdoor living.
From the matte black façade to the light-filled interiors and sculptural outdoor spaces, this home reflects the signature VRchitects approach: less, but better.
Ultra Modern Design Highlights
Gated Street Presence
A new entry sequence begins at a private motorized gate, leading to a minimalist façade of black and white stucco, metal accents, and refined landscaping. The flat-roof overhangs and sloped roofline preserve the original structure’s form—but every other detail is fresh and streamlined.
Interior/Exterior Fusion
Bi-fold glass doors lead to a private terrace framed by trees and seating areas, merging architecture with landscape. This creates a serene, resort-like experience for daily living or entertaining.
Statement Kitchen + Dining
The bold kitchen features a sculptural waterfall island in white marble, matte black cabinetry, integrated lighting, and minimalist detailing. Nearby, a custom dining bench anchors the open-concept living experience.
Spa-Like Primary Bathroom
A black-accent soaking tub, oversized shower with multiple spray systems, and built-in niches elevate the bathroom into a calm, spa-like retreat. The large picture window offers privacy and views in equal measure.
A Personal Statement in Modern Design
This project was about more than upgrading finishes—it was about redefining the function and feeling of home. From first glance at the front door to the last detail in the bath fixtures, everything was curated for a cohesive, minimalist, yet warm experience.
